Obama-era CIA Director John Brennan blasted President Trump Friday on MSNBC, saying that the Republican is "incompetent" and is responding to the Jamal Khashoggi murder in an "unprincipled" manner because he "clearly likes people with money."

He also spoke about why he believes Trump should be concerned about special counsel Robert Mueller's probe.

Brennan said Trump should have "come down like a ton of bricks" on Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, but did not because he likes rich people "who can do things for him."

He also reacted to a tweet from Trump ripping Brennan and fellow current or former bureaucrats James Clapper, Bruce Ohr and James Comey.

"[Will] the lying and leaking by the people doing the Report, & also Bruce Ohr (and his lovely wife Molly), Comey, Brennan, Clapper, & all of the many fired people of the FBI, be listed in the Report? Will the corruption within the DNC & Clinton Campaign be exposed?" Trump asked Friday morning on Twitter.

Host Joe Scarborough, a former Florida Republican congressman, asked Brennan if the Kremlin has Trump "in a compromising position" as well.

"He has a lot to fear," Brennan responded, adding that the president is in turn trying to "delegitimize" of Special Counsel Robert Mueller.

"He is incompetent," Brennan said of Trump.

Scarborough also asked about what he called Trump's "obsequious behavior" toward the Saudis and Russians.

Brennan said Trump appeared to "turn a blind eye to the horrific murder" of Khashoggi because of the wealth and power of the House of Saud.
