Dana Perino reacted to an interview Hillary Clinton gave to CBS News in which she said her husband "absolutely" should not have resigned as president over his affair with intern Monica Lewinsky.

Hillary Clinton said the relationship was not an abuse of power and noted that Lewinsky "was an adult" at the time.

"If I had said this, or if [another conservative like] Ann Coulter had said this, everyone on the left would've come out and wanted her head on a stake," Perino said.

She said Mrs. Clinton and others on the left are consistently hypocritical when it comes to their defense of alleged victims of sexual abuse via the #MeToo movement.

"This has been going on since 1997," Perino said of Mrs. Clinton's explanations to that effect. "They didn't deal with it appropriately then. They're not doing it now."

"Why do you think you lose? This is exactly why you lose," Perino said, noting that retired nursing home administrator Juanita Broaddrick was not given the same treatment by Mrs. Clinton when Broaddrick alleged that President Clinton raped her.

Greg Gutfeld added that people are often hypocrites when it comes to extramarital relationships and defending their spouses.

"When it happens to you and your wife, it changes the rules," he said of the phenomenon.
