Fox News contributor Guy Benson appeared on "Fox & Friends" Wednesday to react to the political fallout from Justice Brett Kavanaugh being seated on the Supreme Court.

He pointed to a Daily Beast op-ed titled "Kavanaugh Killed the ‘Never Trump’ Movement," in which author Matt Lewis argues that the Supreme Court fight "radicalized" Never Trumpers and pushed them to support Trump or abandon the Republican Party.

Benson -- a former Never Trumper himself -- agreed that the Kavanaugh battle united the GOP, and not just behind President Trump but also other party leaders like Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.)

He explained that most people right of center could see that Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee were attempting to delay or sink Kavanaugh's nomination over a series of uncorroborated sexual assault allegations.

"[We] were outraged at their complete lack of respect for Justice Kavanaugh. No sense of fairness whatsoever," Benson said, accusing Democrats of ignoring bedrock American values like the presumption of innocence.

Benson said Kavanaugh got it exactly right when he condemned Democrats' "search and destroy strategy."

"I think a lot of us, whether we are hardcore Trumpers or Trump-skeptical conservatives, we saw what the Democrats were up to and said, 'No, no. This is a fight. We are all on the same side here. We're engaged.'"
