Shapiro: 'Pretty Disgusting' for Democrats to Turn Kavanaugh Controversy Into 'Get-Out-the-Vote Effort'

Ben Shapiro blasted Democrats for using the controversy surrounding Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh as a "2018 get-out-the-vote-effort."
Kavanaugh, President Trump's pick for the high court, has been accused by California professor Christine Blasey Ford of a decades-old sexual assault, which has thrown Kavanaugh's confirmation process into chaos.
Shapiro, a conservative commentator and editor-in-chief of The Daily Wire, joined Jesse Watters on "Watters' World" to react to Democrats' "attempted roadblock."
Shapiro noted that there is no corroborating evidence or contemporaneous account of Ford's claims, so all Democrats have is her testimony.
"Well, then she should be pretty eager to testify about this, presumably under oath. And yet, Democrats have been doing their damndest to ensure that she doesn't testify under oath," Shapiro said, noting that Ford's attorney has set certain conditions for the testimony and Democrats have set up poisoned pill conditions for any possible hearing.
He added that Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), the ranking Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee, received a letter from Ford detailing her assault allegation in July, but Feinstein sat on the letter for much of Kavanaugh's confirmation process.
"The truth is this whole Kavanaugh sham from the Democrats -- the allegations may not be a sham but the way the Democrats treated it is a sham -- that sham is a 2018 get out the vote effort," Shapiro said. "This there is no question that's what they are attempting to do. And this all plays into electoral politics in a pretty disgusting way."
