Ben Shapiro is joining the weekend primetime lineup on Fox News Channel with a fast-paced, hard-hitting series that will look at the critical issues leading up to the midterm elections.

Ahead of Sunday night's premiere episode of "The Ben Shapiro Election Special" at 8:00pm ET, Fox News Insider talked with Shapiro about the stakes on Election Day, the big issues he'll cover on the show and what viewers can expect to see.

During the hour-long program, Shapiro will speak with election experts and take on pundits from both sides of the aisle, promising to call it like he sees it in his signature style.

"I coined the 'good Trump, bad Trump' model. When President Trump does something good, he's worthy of our praise. When he does something bad, he's not," Shapiro said, adding he's "happy to tick off" people from either side with his arguments.

Shapiro, the editor-in-chief of The Daily Wire and host of "The Ben Shapiro Show" podcast, said he's looking forward to going more in-depth on the issues than he can as a Fox News guest.

"A full hour gives me the ability to flesh out an argument in long form. It also gives me the ability to put serious questions to folks with whom I disagree. ... More time means more depth, more facts and more data. I think that's what everybody's craving," he said.

Shapiro teased that the show will also feature younger voices and drill down on issues that are critical to young voters, such as the impact of the #MeToo movement.

"It's something that Republicans aren't paying attention to. Young people are movement-driven and all of the movements that have legs right now are pushes from the left," he noted.

The critical issue in November, Shapiro predicted, will be turnout and voter enthusiasm, believing the outcome of the House and Senate could hinge on whether the surging economy is top-of-mind for Americans.

"I'm hoping the biggest issue is the economy, but I fear the biggest issue is the president. Democrats are going to turn out in significant numbers because they despise President Trump and many of them suffer from Trump derangement syndrome," he explained.

"The fate of the country could turn on this election. ... Everybody has a perspective, the question is are you gonna get out and vote and do you understand the stakes if you don't? Because the stakes are incredibly high," said Shapiro, warning that if Democrats take control of Congress they could "sink Trump" and stymie the conservative agenda.

With a lot to cover, Shapiro said he's excited to kick off a hard-hitting weekly conversation on Fox News.

"It's going to be incredibly fast-paced. We're going to analyze in real terms and without putting on blinders, how well things are going to go for Republicans and Democrats."
