Fox News correspondent Steve Harrigan reported Friday afternoon in extreme wind and rain from Hurricane Florence in North Topsail Beach, North Carolina, which is bearing the brunt of the storm's impact.

"I'm hearing all this talk about how this is a rain event and the storm is weakening. That is certainly not the case where I'm standing," he said, explaining that the storm is causing structural damage in the area and the wind gusts have not weakened.

Houses on the street where Harrigan stood showed damaged roofs and one had a partially-collapsed deck. He said he has not seen "a soul" in the area all day, with power and cell service knocked out.
