A number of people in Manhattan Beach, California expressed the same belief as gubernatorial candidate Gavin Newsom, that illegal immigrants should receive free health care.

Newsom (D) said last month that he was “very proud” that as mayor of San Francisco, he implemented such a policy and that it was done in a cost-effective way.

"We proved it could be done without bankrupting the city. I’d like to see that extended to the rest of the state," he said.

Prager U's Will Witt interviewed California locals about the idea and said Sunday on Fox & Friends that many of of them believe in a "utopia."

"Utopias don't exist," Witt said.

One man interviewed in the video ironically wore a shirt that read "Earned, Not Given," and said that everyone -- not only illegal immigrants -- should get free health care.

When asked who would pay for it all, a woman said she didn't see a problem "with everyone getting higher income and having more taxes."

Witt said Sunday that belief in free universal health care is a "trend" in California, and that many people don't understand the burden it'd place on taxpayers.

"It's crazy that people think this," he said. "Putting even more of a burden on the taxpayers is just going to cause even more distress in California."

"This is only another step in the destruction of California."
