Former ICE Director Thomas Homan blasted New York State's Democratic politicians for a barrage of insults and criticisms against the agency.

Trish Regan asked Homan about Attorney General Zephyr Teachout, who said that if elected this fall, she will "prosecute" ICE for crimes against New Yorkers. Teachout also said the agency was "born out of xenophobia after 9/11."

"It's a disgusting statement," Homan said. "She wants to be the top cop [in New York State] but the first thing she does is call out a law enforcement agency."

Homan, who is from the Fort Drum area of New York, said Teachout "needs to educate herself, but guess who her senator is -- [Kirsten] Gillibrand."

ICE Director Rips 'Sad' New York AG Candidate Who Threatened to 'Prosecute' Agency

He said that Gillibrand, Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) and Teachout should "send a thank you letter for ICE" after noting the agency deported as many as 5,000 criminal illegal aliens from the Empire State in the last year.

Last year, Cuomo took issue with President Trump's enforcement of federal immigration law, daring his fellow Queens native to "deport" him.

Homan said Teachout, who is in a three-way primary bid to face Republican nominee Keith Wofford in November, is trying to go "farther left" than democratic socialist U.S. House candidate Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
