Shapiro on Socialist Who Upset NY Primary: Just Like Bernie, She Has Radical Ideas That Can Never Be Paid For
Daily Wire editor-in-chief Ben Shapiro said New York congressional candidate Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is "throwing out radical proposals" that are "completely untenable."
Shapiro downplayed the fact Ocasio-Cortez won a primary in a heavily blue district, noting that the politics of the South Bronx and northern Queens is not indicative of the rest of the country.
Ocasio-Cortez faces St. John's professor Anthony Pappas (R) in November.
Martha MacCallum said Ocasio-Cortez is a member of the Democratic Socialists of America, which she said is in favor of the "abolition of capitalism" in exchange for government-guaranteed jobs.

Ocasio-Cortez also called for the impeachment of President Trump and abolition of ICE.
Shapiro said she is a member of the "howling at the moon branch of the Democratic Party" that "throws out radical proposals" and then claims "moral clarity lies in making proposals that are completely untenable and never will be paid for."
He said reporter asked Ocasio-Cortez how she planned to fund the socialist doctrine she supports, adding that the candidate "blabbed for a solid two minutes because she didn't have an answer."
MacCallum said Ocasio-Cortez ripped Trump as an "authoritarian hyper-capitalist."
Shapiro said the district -- currently represented by House Democratic Caucus Chair Joe Crowley (D-Queens) -- is solidly Democrat and not indicative of the rest of America.
Until 2013, the district was mainly comprised of middle-to-upper class Manhattan and Queens neighborhoods before being shifted more toward Pelham and the South Bronx.
