Read remembrances from dozens of Charles' friends, fans and fellow Fox News personalities at the bottom of the story.

FRIDAY AT 9 PM ET:

Upon the death of the Pulitzer-prize winning commentator, Fox News presents the moving and inspirational story of Charles Krauthammer’s life as told in his own words.  The hour-long special includes reflections by Bret Baier, Brit Hume, Sean Hannity, Tucker Carlson, Laura Ingraham, Fred Barnes, and George Will.

Charles Krauthammer, one of the most influential political analysts of the modern era and a longtime favorite of Fox News Channel viewers, passed away Thursday at age 68 after a battle with cancer.

In a heartbreaking letter to his fans and colleagues, Krauthammer revealed on June 8 that he had only weeks to live.

His illuminating commentaries across Fox News Channel’s programming were noticeably absent since last August, when he underwent surgery to have a malignant tumor removed from his abdomen.

After months of complications and an arduous recovery process, Krauthammer shared with viewers in May that he hoped to soon return to the airwaves. Sadly, however, subsequent tests revealed the cancer had returned.

“There was no sign of it as recently as a month ago, which means it is aggressive and spreading rapidly. My doctors tell me their best estimate is that I have only a few weeks left to live. This is the final verdict. My fight is over,” Krauthammer wrote.

The Pulitzer Prize winner, who graduated from Harvard Medical School in 1975 despite a first-year diving accident that left him a quadriplegic, leaves behind his wife, Robyn, and son, Daniel.

Krauthammer’s friends and colleagues are sharing their remembrances on Fox News Channel today and on social media.

"The man was so courageous in the way he lived his life," longtime former Special Report host Brit Hume said. "I am terribly sad... that he's gone. It's a terribly sad moment."

In a statement from network CEO Suzanne Scott, Fox News Channel reacted to Charles' death:

We are deeply saddened by the loss of our colleague and friend, Charles Krauthammer.

A gifted doctor and brilliant political commentator, Charles was a guiding voice throughout his time with FOX News and we were incredibly fortunate to showcase his extraordinary talent on our programs.

He was an inspiration to all of us and will be greatly missed.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his beloved wife Robyn and his son Daniel.
