Steve Hilton: US Should Seek 'Complete Economic Boycott of China' Over Trade Imbalance
Steve Hilton, host of The Next Revolution on Fox News Channel, called for a "complete economic boycott of China" in order to stem its plan to "beat" the United States economically and militarily.
Hilton, formerly an adviser to former United Kingdom Prime Minister David Cameron, said he agreed with President Donald Trump's top trade policy adviser's contention that "systematic structural change" is needed on the matter.
Adviser Peter Navarro said the changes should be "enforceable and accountable" and lead to "free, fair and balanced trade."
Hilton ripped Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), who said Trump will eventually "wake up" to the fact Navarro is leading him astray on trade.
"Orrin Hatch is the one who has to wake up," Hilton said. "[China's] behavior has gotten more and more authoritarian" since the late 1990s.
He called for a "complete economic boycott of China" as the only way to "face down" what he called the "Communist dictatorship" of President Xi Jinping.
Hilton said there is a "whole world" of trade options beyond China, including India -- the world's most populous democracy -- and the African continent.
The "suck-up to China" has been a "complete disaster," Hilton said.
