Gohmert Slams Russia Probe Spending: Mueller Has 'Absolutely Blown Taxpayer Dollars'
Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) was highly critical of the amount of tax money spent on Special Counsel Robert Mueller's Russia investigation.
According to a new Justice Department spending report released last week, taxpayers have spent nearly $17 million on the probe since Mueller took over last year.
Gohmert said on "Fox & Friends" that he'd like some transparency on where Americans' money is going.
"The least we can do is start looking at all the ways he has absolutely blown taxpayer dollars," he said.
The spending report said that the nearly $7 million expenses between May and September of 2017 would “have incurred for the investigations irrespective of the existence” of Mueller’s probe.
....At what point does this soon to be $20,000,000 Witch Hunt, composed of 13 Angry and Heavily Conflicted Democrats and two people who have worked for Obama for 8 years, STOP! They have found no Collussion with Russia, No Obstruction, but they aren’t looking at the corruption...

The report also said that about $10 million was spent between October 2017 and March 2018.
"[Mueller] has wasted money right and left," Gohmert said.
According to The Washington Times, the House approved a proposal introduced by Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.) that called for regular audits of the Russia investigation.
This amendment PASSED earlier today. It will require special counsels to undergo a semiannual audit from the GAO on their expenses.
This is a big win for taxpayers--special counsels shouldn't be able to avoid accountability on where they spend Americans' money. https://t.co/kI86lVjkAN
