'There's No Standard for the Left': Bongino Says Joy Reid Is Getting 'Free Pass' for Blog Posts
Dan Bongino said that following recently unearthed controversial blog posts by MSNBC host Joy Reid, it seems that liberal commentators can say whatever they want without any repercussions.
One post described how migrant workers and illegal immigrants should not be employed to rebuild New Orleans after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina.
In another post, Reid published an image of Sen. John McCain’s head photoshopped onto the body of the Virginia Tech shooter.
Bongino said there is a standard for conservatives who "screw up," and that they could "be boycotted and potentially fired" from their jobs.
"There's no standard for the left," Bongino said. "The left, you can use the most vile of terms."
Bongino also referenced comedian Samantha Bee's vulgar remark about Ivanka Trump, calling it a "show-stopper" word.
"What happened to her? She apologizes and she moves on. Joy Reid -- vile, homophobic stuff in her blog. What happens? It's a free pass," he said.
MSNBC said in a statement on the issue that Reid's blog posts "are not reflective of the colleague and friend we have known at MSNBC."
It also said Reid "has grown and evolved in the many years since, and we know this to be true.”
"If that were a conservative, they would be gone the next day no question about it," Bongino added.
Reid also apologized for the offensive posts, saying in a statement that she is "sorry for the collateral damage and pain this is causing individuals and communities caught in the crossfire.”
