Bongino Blasts Mueller Probe: 'You Investigate a Crime,' Not a Person

President Trump talked to reporters Friday morning, calling out the media for ignoring positive stories in the country in favor of coverage of the Russia investigation and Stormy Daniels.

As he departed Joint Base Andrews for a speech to the NRA convention in Dallas, Trump was hit with a barrage of questions about both subjects.

"This country is running so smoothly and to be bringing up that kind of crap and to be bringing up witch hunts all the time ... that's all you want to talk about," he said.

Trump said Rudy Giuliani "just started" on his legal team and "wasn't totally familiar with everything" in interviews earlier this week. The former New York City mayor made headlines Wednesday on "Hannity" by saying President Trump reimbursed Michael Cohen for a $130,000 payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels.

Giuliani later clarified for Fox News that the money Trump paid to Cohen was for unspecified "expenses," and that the president was unaware that money would be going to Daniels.

A reporter brought up Trump's previous statement on Air Force One that he did not know about the payment to Daniels.

"Take a look at what I said. Go back and take a look. You'll see what I said," he responded.

Minutes earlier, as he walked out of the White House, he told reporters he would "love to" sit down with Special Counsel Robert Mueller if he believes he will be "treated fairly."

He said the probe by Mueller is a "pure witch hunt" and that a group of "angry Democrats" are on Mueller's team.
