Owens: Trump-Kanye Story 'Beginning of a Very Interesting Time in Black America'

Conservative commentator Candace Owens said that Kanye West "has a wonderful, beautiful vision for the future of America" after spending time with the superstar rapper over the weekend.

Owens, communications director for Turning Point USA and Charlie Kirk, the organization's founder, met with West in California.

West has been lambasted recently because of his philosophical tweets and vocal admiration of President Donald Trump.

The attention toward him began after he tweeted his support of Owens, saying "I love the way Candace Owens thinks."

Owens said Monday on "Hannity" that West "understands something and he sees something on both sides."

"I really think he's going to be significant in bridging the gap," she said.

Owens also said that West "defines culture" and that there is significance in his willingness to go "against the grain."

"When Kanye West wears [a 'Make America Great Again' hat] and he says 'I love Donald Trump, He's my brother,' it means so much more," she said. "It reverberates around the world."

According to Spin, Kirk and Owens met with West at the Southern California Institute of Architecture.

Kirk also quoted Donald Trump Jr.'s photo of the trio on Twitter, writing the caption, "Free thinkers only."

Owens said she is honored to be on West's "journey," and for him to be on her journey as well.

"It's a unifying message and this is really just the beginning of it," she said.
