Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations Danny Danon said the days of diplomats at the United Nations "bashing" his home country are "over" now that Washington has taken a hard line in Jerusalem's defense.

Danon thanked U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley for vetoing a resolution condemning the Jewish State, one year after Obama-era Ambassador Samantha Power abstained from a similar vote.

"We saw today a friendship, between Prime Minister [Bibi] Netanyahu and President Trump," Danon said of the two men's meeting at the White House.

Danon said the "days of [Israel] bashing at the U.N. are over."

He added that Israel is "grateful" for Trump's decision to move the American embassy from Tel Aviv to the formal capital of Jerusalem - over the objections of Mahmoud Abbas and the Palestinian Authority.

Netanyahu said in his meeting with Trump that the two nations share common enemies like Iran, and common challenges.
