'You'll Have Fewer Rights': Tucker Warns of 'Australian-Style' Gun Control If Dems Win Congress
Tucker Carlson warned that a Democratic takeover of Congress, be it in 2018 or thereafter, could have crippling effects on Americans' constitutional right to keep and bear arms.
Carlson said President Trump appears to have since moderated since his own consideration of confiscating guns prior to awarding subjects due process.
But he said the Democrats will likely never moderate on the issue.
He said he invited members of different gun control groups - including those founded by former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg (I), investor George Soros and former Rep. Gabby Giffords (D-Ariz.) - but said none accepted the offer.
Carlson pointed to several media personalities like CNN's Van Jones, the New York Times' Bret Stephens and Christiane Amanpour, who voiced concern on the issue.
Amanpour warned that the Bible teaches people not to "worship false gods" but that some people are "worshiping at the altar of the gun gods."
Stephens said that "thousands of people are dying every year for this so-called liberty."
Carlson said many Democrats point to Australia as a model for gun control.
There, the authorities confiscated weapons and reportedly frightened the public with hard-hitting ads.
Carlson posted a picture of one ad, which showed naked men in a prison shower, captioned with a warning for those who refuse to turn in their guns.
"You'll have fewer rights," he said of the prospect of a Democrat majority come 2019.
"Democrats will treat you the same way they treat convicted felons [but] their bodyguards will [still] have the most powerful guns available."
