'Pure Insanity': Shapiro Hits Back After Kamala Harris Blasts Trump's 'Anti-Immigrant Agenda'
Ben Shapiro had some strong criticism for Sen. Kamala Harris after the California Democrat blamed President Trump's "anti-immigrant agenda" for a decrease in illegal immigrants seeking college financial aid in her state.
For the second year in a row, fewer undocumented youth applied for financial aid in California because they are distrustful of our government. This is a direct product of Trump's anti-immigrant agenda. No one in America should ever have to live in fear of our government. https://t.co/SBHqXfBcmR

"My state is so stupid," Shapiro said on "Fox & Friends" on Tuesday, noting a recent study estimated California spends $23 billion per year on illegal immigration, twice as much as any other state.
Despite that, Shapiro said, many Democrat lawmakers want more illegal immigration, not less, which he said explains their negative reaction to recent immigration bills that have come up for consideration.
"If you are a legal resident of United States, if you're here legally, then you should be upset with the idea of subsidizing people to come here illegally if you are interested at all in having a sovereign country that controls its borders," Shapiro said. "It's pure insanity."
He added that California is estimated to have more than $1 trillion in outstanding debt, making it all the more outrageous that billions and billions of tax dollars are spent on undocumented immigrants.
"I'm not in favor of a lot of this government spending, but if you're going to have it, at least spend it on the people who are here legally."
