WATCH: Trump Compares Pelosi's 'Crumbs' Remark to Hillary's 'Deplorables' Insult
Speaking to lawmakers at the GOP policy retreat in West Virginia, the president predicted Pelosi's comment would be "bad" for Democrats, comparing it to a famous utterance from 2016 by Hillary Clinton.
"Then we got hit with these corporations giving tremendous bonuses to everybody that Nancy Pelosi called 'crumbs.' That could be like 'deplorable.' Does that make sense? Deplorable and crumbs? ... People are getting 1,000, 2,000, 3,000 dollars. That's not crumbs. That's a lot of money," he said.

Pelosi said two weeks ago, “In terms of the bonus that corporate America receives versus the crumbs they are giving to workers to put the schmooze on is so pathetic. It's so pathetic."
During the presidential campaign of 2016, Clinton spoke in derogatory terms about supporters of President Trump, claiming they were racist and xenophobic.
"You could put half of Trump’s supporters into what I call the ‘basket of deplorables.’ They’re racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamophobic, you name it," Clinton said.
Trump said a typical family of four in West Virginia will save about $2,000 a year and he hopes more tax cuts can be passed in Congress.
He said this month, workers all over the United States will see more money in their paychecks.
Pelosi's office later responded to Trump's remarks.
“What’s deplorable is Republicans’ desperate effort to hide the multibillion-dollar corporate windfalls of the GOP tax scam behind a handful of meager, one-time bonuses," Drew Hammill, a spokesman for Pelosi, said.
"The casual dishonesty of taking Leader Pelosi’s words out of context is nothing compared to the dishonesty of Republicans’ sales pitch on their tax scam itself."
