'Americans Will See Through All of This': Tomi Lahren Takes on Possible Shutdown

In his opening monologue Friday night, Sean Hannity said Democrats and the mainstream media are desperately trying to whip the American people into a panic over a possible government shutdown.

"They want to create a climate of fear and panic that is all based on lies," Hannity said. "It's all an attempt to try and use the shutdown to bludgeon, once again, President Trump and the Republicans politically."

Senate Democrats have said any short-term spending bill to keep the government open must include a fix for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, which protects from deportation some illegal immigrants brought to the country as children.

"Senate Democrats, led by Chuck Schumer, they're the ones to blame tonight. They're the ones who really in reality are putting illegal immigrants before you, the American people," Hannity said, pointing out that DACA is in place until March and is not an urgent issue.

He said Democrats and the media are launching a "false shutdown narrative" in an attempt to smear Republicans and score points in the upcoming 2018 midterms.

"This is all about scare tactics and trying to convince you, the American people, that a shutdown will lead to mass suffering and apocalyptic-like circumstances. Those are all lies," Hannity said, pointing out that most of the government will remain open even if a shutdown occurs.
