'Laws Were Broken': Gaetz Says Memo Alleging Surveillance Abuses Must Be Released
Rep. Matt Gaetz said Friday a memo laying out alleged United States government surveillance abuses must be made public, echoing his House Republican colleagues on the "disturbing" nature of its contents.
Several GOP lawmakers have said they could not yet discuss the contents of the memo after it was released to members by the House Intelligence Committee.
Many are calling for the memo to be released, with #ReleasetheMemo trending Friday morning on Twitter. In his opening monologue Thursday, Sean Hannity called the alleged abuse of power by the Justice Department and FBI "far bigger than Watergate."
D's claim there is grave Trump-Russia collusion. R's claim there is grave abuse by FBI of FISA. We've been rehashing this unanswerable fight for 18 months. But there's a simple answer. Time to #ReleaseTheMemo. Let's see what FBI has, or didn't have.

I have read the memo. The sickening reality has set in. I no longer hold out hope there is an innocent explanation for the information the public has seen. I have long said it is worse than Watergate. It was #neverTrump & #alwaysHillary. #releasethememo

I viewed the classified report from House Intel relating to the FBI, FISA abuses, the infamous Russian dossier, and so-called "Russian collusion." What I saw is absolutely shocking.

Yesterday I spent time reviewing a classified report about the FBI/DOJ and the Trump campaign. The American people deserve to see the contents of this report, and I fully support its public disclosure. #ReleaseTheMemo

"Laws were broken," Gaetz (R-Fla.) told Bill Hemmer on "America's Newsroom," adding he's confident the "top-secret document" will be released, but declined to reveal what it says.
Gaetz said "heads are going to roll" at the FBI and DOJ if the memo comes out and some officials could face "criminal consequences."
