'Schumer's From New York': Trump Says Dems Will Help With Immigration Reform After NYC Attacks
President Donald Trump predicted that Democrats will help Republicans pass conservative immigration reform after two terror attacks in the Minority Leader's home state.
"The person on the West Side Highway that killed eight people and so badly injured many more... he came in through the lottery system," Trump said of Uzbek immigrant Sayfullo Saipov.
Saipov is accused of driving a truck down a bike path alongside State Route 9A in New York City on Halloween 2017.
"[Senator] Chuck Schumer is [from] New York. He saw somebody that came in through the lottery system," Trump said.
"He saw this man kill eight people on the West Side Highway that he knows very well and he loves like I do," Trump, a Queens native, said of the Brooklyn-born Democrat.
In December, a Bangladeshi immigrant also attempted to detonate an improvised explosive device in a subway concourse below the Port Authority Bus Terminal.
Trump called the visa lottery program "a disaster" and said that Democrats should work with Republicans after they witnessed recent terror attacks.

"I think he's OK with it," Trump said of Schumer accepting further border security and constriction of visa policy.
We had a positive & productive meeting & all parties have agreed to continue discussing a path forward to quickly resolve all of the issues ahead of us.

Trump added that his much-touted plan for a border wall with Mexico "will happen, or we're not going to have DACA."
