As he prepared to depart for Camp David for the weekend, President Trump reacted to the Republican tax plan passing the necessary vote threshold.

"This really will mostly benefit the middle class - and jobs," Trump said. "Companies are pouring into the country."

Trump said the middle class will see the most benefit from the new tax reform legislation.

He said the economy is already doing "fantastically well" after his administration cut regulations on business.

"We are really going to start to rock" after the bill becomes law, Trump said.

"[The tax plan is] one of the great Christmas gifts [for] middle-income people," he said.

Trump is taking what is expected to be a working weekend away from the White House at the famous compound near Frederick, Md.
