In his opening monologue tonight, Sean Hannity said sanctuary city laws and policies killed Kate Steinle.
Steinle was shot and killed by an illegal immigrant while she was walking on a San Francisco pier with her father in July 2015.
Jose Ines Garcia Zarate, who had previously been deported multiple times, was found not guilty of murder.
Hannity noted that Zarate had been released from a San Francisco jail about three months before the shooting, despite a federal request that he be held for deportation.
"It was San Francisco's sanctuary city policies that killed Kate Steinle," Hannity said. "They did not obey the law. They followed these ridiculous liberal policies, and because of their stupidity and their 'form of justice' and caring more about the rights of illegal, convicted felons, tonight Kate Steinle is dead and her family has received no justice."
He said Americans should be asking a very important question: "What good comes out of a sanctuary city law?"
He pointed out that Zarate was a seven-time felon who had been deported from the U.S. five times before the fatal shooting.
"People that never respected our laws and our sovereignty come into this country again and again and again and again and again."
