Goldberg: New Revelations Prove Bernie Sanders Wasn't 'Paranoid' About DNC & Hillary
'The Clintons are done in the Democratic Party,' he says.
National Review senior editor Jonah Goldberg said the new revelations in Donna Brazile's book about Hillary Clinton and the DNC vindicate the claims made in 2016 by then-candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders.
In her new book, "Hacked," former interim DNC chair Brazile says Clinton resolved the DNC's large debts and took control, rigging the nomination process.
"When I was asked to run the Democratic Party after the Russians hacked our emails, I stumbled onto a shocking truth about the Clinton campaign," Brazile wrote in a Politico excerpt.
Brazile took over the DNC in July 2016 after Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz stepped down in the wake of the Russians' email hack. She writes that she promised Sanders she would find out whether there was any truth to rumors that the nominating process was indeed rigged against him.
"By September 7, the day I called Bernie, I had found my proof and it broke my heart," she wrote.
Goldberg said Sanders was widely dismissed by Clinton backers as "paranoid" for his claims, which were denigrated as "conspiracy theories."
"This proves him entirely right. ... The thing was rigged. Hillary Clinton had basically taken over the Democratic Party," said Goldberg.
Goldberg called Brazile an "honorable and decent person," explaining that he's known her for 20 years and used to appear regularly on a CNN Sunday show with her.
He said people should realize that the party was "in shambles" with huge debts after Obama's two campaigns, leaving it vulnerable for Clinton to "basically bribe them [into] handing over the keys.
"This really does demonstrate that the Clintons are done in the Democratic Party. Donna Brazile would not be writing this if the Clintons were still a viable force," said Goldberg.
There have not been any comments from Clinton or Sanders on Brazile's claims.
