Special Counsel Robert Mueller's probe into Russian meddling in the U.S. reportedly now includes the Democrat-leaning Podesta Group.
The lobbying firm is headed by Tony Podesta, brother of Hillary Clinton's former campaign manager, John Podesta.
Mueller began looking into the firm after probing the finances of former Trump campaign chief Paul Manafort. The Podesta Group reportedly worked on a pro-Ukraine public relations campaign from 2012 to 2014 organized by Manafort.
"The level of foreign money penetrating this country is very disturbing," Newt Gingrich said on "Fox & Friends."
He said it's "crazy" that Trump associates are being investigated for their alleged ties to Russia, as opposed to the Clinton Foundation's role in the Uranium One deal or the Podesta Group doing representational work for Russia's neighbor.
"The total surround for Hillary Clinton of Russian influence-peddling was stunning," Gingrich said, adding that he's surprised there hasn't been a demand for all the Clinton Foundation's donations to be made public.
"All of this stuff ought to come out and be out in the open," he said.
