Reporter: Tillerson's Non-Answer on If He Called Trump a 'Moron' Speaks Volumes
Politico's Jake Sherman pointed out that Secretary of State Rex Tillerson did not directly refute a report that he called President Donald Trump a "moron."
"I don't want to be a negative Nancy here," Sherman told host Jon Scott. "But pointedly the secretary of state was asked whether he called the president a moron, and he did not answer that."
Tillerson held an unscheduled press conference where he called the report "petty nonsense" and said he refused to engage with it.
"This is what I don't understand about Washington," Tillerson told reporters. "Again, I'm not from this place, but the places I come from, we don't deal with that kind of petty nonsense."
"I'm just not going to be part of this effort to divide this administration."
Sherman said the top diplomat's response "speaks volumes."
"This is not a Washington game. This is a yes or no question," the senior reporter said.
Sherman agreed that Tillerson was clear that he supports the agenda and believes the president loves America.
