Tucker Carlson criticized NFL players who knelt during the national anthem.

He said that football is not only the most popular sport in America, but it - until now - was one of the only institutions that unite people of all backgrounds and ideologies.

"Americans who love the same team can bond over football - no longer, sadly," he said.

He called the protesters "pampered millionaires giving the rhetorical finger to the nation that made them rich."

Carlson said that players would be better served to "learn the facts and make your case" about the issues they care about, rather than publicly disrespecting the country.

"A shared belief in America the country is the only glue that binds us together," he said.
