Funny Mark Steyn Slams McConnell & Ryan: Forget Multi-Tasking, They Can't Even 'Uni-Task'
President Donald Trump has been criticized by some of his fellow Republicans for working with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) to raise the debt ceiling, which kept the government open and provided relief for Hurricanes Harvey and Irma.
Although some lawmakers were frustrated with the bipartisan deal, a majority of Americans support Trump reaching across the aisle, according to a new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll.
On Fox Business Network today, Mark Steyn said Trump is doing anything he can to push his agenda through a dysfunctional Congress.
He pointed out that Liz MacDonald said Congress can't walk and chew gum at the same time, but he took it a step further.
"It's not that. It's that they can't walk or chew gum. It's not that they can't multitask, they can't uni-task!" Steyn said, singling out House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.).
If you asked one of them to walk and the other to chew gum, "one of them would would fall over and the other one would choke," he added.
MacDonald said that day after day congressmen appear on camera and demand action, but they accomplish nothing.
"They mistake talk for actually getting something done," she said. "They mistake appearing for the cameras as actually getting something done. And you know what? Stop appearing for the cameras and go get something done."
John Layfield said this Congress is "absolutely terrible," and Democratic and Republican lawmakers must find a way to work together.
"This is a first olive branch at least that is thrown by the president to the Democrats," Layfield said. "And I think that's a good thing."
