Ralph Peters: 'The Problem With Socialism Is It's So Damned Anti-Social'
Lt. Col. Ralph Peters (Ret.) slammed the socialist policies that he said have caused the current chaos in Venezuela.
"The problem with socialism is it's so damned anti-social," Peters said on "America's Newsroom" on Wednesday.
"It destroys societies," the Fox News strategic analyst explained. "The Siamese twin of communism elevates theory above humans."
Venezuela devolved into chaos this year after a wave of fatal anti-government protests and crime that hobbled the formerly wealthy country.
"Socialism sounds great. Equality, social justice, fairness, free stuff, except it doesn't work because it doesn't take into account human nature," Peters said.
President Donald Trump spoke to the United Nations in New York this week, addressing issues surrounding Iran, North Korea, and Venezuela's chaos and disintegrating government.
"The problem in Venezuela is not that socialism has been poorly implemented, but that socialism has been faithfully implemented," Trump stated.
Venezuelan foreign minister Jorge Arreaza called President Trump's speech about "restoring" democracy in the country a "racist and supremacist theory" and a "return to the Cold War."
