Melania Trump reportedly threatened to sue over billboards in Croatia with her photograph and the slogan, "Just imagine how far you can go with a little bit of English."

The advertisements were meant to encourage people to learn English at a language school in the Croatian capital of Zagreb, and featured a picture of the first lady at the Republican National Convention in 2016.

A spokeswoman for the American Institute in Zagreb apologized for the billboards, saying they were not intended to mock the first lady but rather to show her as a role model.

Trump's lawyers were not satisfied.

“They used Mrs. Trump's image and personality for commercial purposes without her consent, which is a breach of the advertising code and the law on obligations,” said White House spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham.

Trump, a former model from Slovenia, hired a law firm in her native country to prevent misuse of her image there.
