Daily Wire editor Ben Shapiro said DNC Vice Chairman Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.) is the "last person who should be making Holocaust references."

Ellison recently compared illegal immigrants fleeing Mexico to Jews escaping the Holocaust.

"[Ellison] spent the last 30 years of his life opposing Jews," Shapiro said.

He noted that, until disavowing his relationship in 2006, Ellison was long tied with Louis Farrakhan's "Nation of Islam" organization.

Farrakhan himself has made several anti-Semitic statements over the years.

Shapiro also said that high-profile Democrat Prof. Alan Dershowitz, who is Jewish, pledged to leave the party if Ellison was elected chairman.

"He's not the guy to be making this reference," Shapiro said of Ellison. "I have my doubts with what he would've done with Jews fleeing the Nazis."
