A man was killed trying to thwart a robbery at a Las Vegas-area convenience store early Saturday after the female suspect ran him over, police said.

The North Las Vegas Police Department said the woman took several items from the AM/PM convenience store around 7 a.m. – and ran over a man who was trying to prevent her from leaving in her car.

The man, who was not immediately identified, was critically injured after he was hit by the Jeep Grand Cherokee, and later died at the hospital, police said.

Police said the “female suspect" fled in a Grand Cherokee with California license plates, and the officers posted photos captured on surveillance video of the incident.

The store owner told FOX5 Las Vegas the woman mostly took food.

"Hot food, sodas, chips, simple stuff like that," Gurpreet Singh said.

Two employees tried to stop the suspect from taking off, but were unsuccessful. The Good Samaritan then stepped in before he was struck, according to Singh

"He gets in front of her and she runs him over," he told FOX 5.

Authorities urged anyone with further information on the deadly incident to call the North Las Vegas Police Department at 702-633-9111.
