Sean Hannity said that the Republican Party's constant failures "literally pushed this president into the arms of Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi."
Hannity said the GOP is a "colossal failure" as a governing party and has shown no sense of urgency or responsibility to the electorate.
Hannity said that criticism of Trump may be premature, following a press release from the Democratic leaders hailing a new deal on DACA without wall funding.
"Without Republicans in his corner, well, the president has few options... wait around or forge ahead on his own," Hannity said.
He said that such "forging" came in the form of an invitation to the top Democratic leaders, and that afterward, the president's message was different than the guests'.
"If we don't have the wall, we're doing nothing," Trump said in Fort Myers, Fla. earlier Thursday.
Hannity said that Trump must be speaking earnestly in order to ensure his base does not leave him.
He said Trump will pay "severe political consequences" if he backs away from strict border security and wall construction.
