Mark Krikorian, of the conservative think tank Center for Immigration Studies, said President Trump is unwise to trust Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.).
Krikorian said Trump supporters should also find solace in the fact that Trump never formalized anything from his meeting with Schumer and Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.).
"He hasn't signed a bad bill. There's suggestions that he's going off the reservation," Krikorian said.

But, Krikorian warned that although they share the same hometown, Schumer is not like the "mobbed-up labor bosses and crooked building inspectors" Trump is used making deals with in New York City.
"He's been making deals with Republicans then knifing them in the back once he gets his part of the deal," Krikorian said of the Brooklyn lawmaker.
Krikorian said Trump is signaling that he is "in over his head" on immigration policy by speaking highly of Schumer.
