As Hurricane Irma bears down on Florida, Gov. Rick Scott is urging anyone in the evacuation zone who hasn't evacuated to do so immediately.
He said Irma will be "devastating," with a five to ten-foot storm surge in southwest Florida.
"You can't survive this. I tell everybody, if you're in the evacuation zone anywhere in our state, you've got to get out now," Scott said.
He said they're opening up hurricane shelters across the state and will be doing everything possible to keep people safe.
"We're not going to spare any expense. But you've got to be prepared and you've got to evacuate," Scott said.
He urged anyone who's considering not evacuating to think about their loved ones.
"You can rebuild your house. You can get your possessions. I can't rebuild your life. I can't rebuild your family. So think about everybody in your family."
