Double Standard? Team Trump Calls Out DNC Coordination With Ukraine
Following Donald Trump Jr.'s exclusive interview with Sean Hannity, critics accused him of colluding with Russia on behalf of his father.
However, defenders of the Trumps now point to a Politico report that Democratic operatives similarly colluded with Ukrainian officials to help Hillary Clinton in 2016.
Trump Jr. is accused of accepting a meeting with Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya on terms that she had dirt on the Clintons.
The meeting didn't pan out, according to Trump Jr., and Veselnitskaya instead lobbied for the repeal of the Magnitsky Act.
Kristin Fisher reported that Alexandra Chalupa, a Ukrainian-American Democratic operative, may have been involved in facilitating cooperation between the DNC and Kiev.
Chalupa used to work for the Bill Clinton administration and reportedly met during Hillary's campaign with the Ukrainian ambassador.
The two talked about then-future Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort's ties to Russia - a sworn enemy of Ukraine.
Politico said those alleged efforts had an impact on the 2016 race, and Trump supporters said the lack of coverage is a double standard to Trump's detriment.
However, Fisher said while Russian efforts to interfere came directly from the top - President Putin - Ukrainian efforts were likely not directed by President Petro Poroshenko.
