Tucker Carlson reacted to the disclosure of Donald Trump Jr.'s meeting with a Russian lawyer, which some Democrats have said may constitute treason.
"Gossiping with foreigners now qualifies as treason in America," Carlson said in summing up Sen. Tim Kaine's (D-Va.) analysis of the situation.
"Consider that before allowing an exchange student to live in your house," he remarked.
He called the reaction a "new level of hysteria" in Washington, D.C., where he said lobbyists on both sides of the aisle regularly do similar things with foreign actors.
"How many lobbyists routinely meet with foreign agents?" he asked, noting that lobbyists' jobs are to 'lobby' for their causes.
Brit Hume said the meeting showed a degree of "naivete" on Trump Jr.'s behalf.

He noted that, while Democrats have slammed the younger Trump, he once saw Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) dining with the Russian ambassador in the Capitol's mess hall, and thought nothing of it.
