Remy Bonnaffe gave his account of a failed terror attack in Brussels, Belgium Tuesday night that injured only the attacker.

A man with a rucksack and a bomb belt detonated a bomb in Brussels Central Station and was shot and "neutralized" by soldiers, the government stated. No one else was injured according to reports. Both the station as well as Grand Place, a tourist site, were evacuated.

Some Belgian media quoted the attacker as saying, "Allahu Akbar," which means "God is great" in Arabic just before he detonated the bomb.

Bonnaffe said he heard an explosion and saw something burning in front of him. People started to run "in panic" and then he heard a second explosion. He heard "very rapid bangs ... like gunshot" and he began to run away.

The witness was able to snap a picture of the fiery explosion before fleeing.

"Looked around, saw people running in the streets, trying to seek refuge and decided to do the same ourselves," a second witness, Arash Aazami told the BBC.

Terrorists killed 32 people in a suicide bombing in Brussels on March 22 last year. The city has exercised heightened awareness since then.

Brussels Central is one of three main stations in the city.
