With all the speculation surrounding the investigation into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia, Meghan McCain is cautioning the White House and the Republican Party not to lose sight of the 2018 midterm elections, which are quickly approaching.

On "Outnumbered" today, McCain said that if she worked in the White House, she would deliver that message by taking a cue from "Game of Thrones" and the HBO program's catchphrase "Winter Is Coming."

"Midterms are coming," McCain warned. "And they're coming soon. And if you don't get this together pretty soon, you're going to have hell to pay coming up in a lot of these elections."

She said Republicans must pass some significant legislation, whether it's the repeal and replace of ObamaCare, tax reform or something else.

"Pass something, something that we can go to our constituents and say, 'Look, this is why you elected President Trump. He's making America great again,'" McCain said. "Because right now, it's Russia, Russia, Russia."

Harris Faulkner pointed out that Trump has actually had a productive last week or two, but that's been overshadowed and drowned out. She added that some of his problems are self-inflicted.

Chris Stirewalt agreed that the Democratic Party, some Republicans and the mainstream media are all out to get Trump, and he just gives them ammunition with his Twitter habits.

He specifically pointed to Trump's tweet about "being investigated," explaining that the president's lawyers would surely advise him to avoid commenting on the ongoing Russia probe.

"Trump can't resist," Stirewalt said. "The president just gives them wood to put on this pyre every day."
