Robert Jeffress, pastor of First Baptist Church of Dallas urged dads and their children to show forgiveness this Father's Day.
"Remember there is only one perfect Father," he said with a smile.
Jeffress encouraged people to find something to thank their fathers for even if they have been disappointed.
"When we forgive we set the prisoner free, and the prisoner we set free is us," the pastor said.
He said Father's Day is a time for dads to make up for missing out on time with their kids.
How a child feels about God is largely determined by how he feels about his earthly father, Jeffress reminded.
"It's never too late to start doing the right thing," he concluded.
