WATCH: Hearing Gets Heated When Sessions Blasts Dem's 'Innuendo'
Attorney General Jeff Sessions and Sen. Ron Wyden engaged in a heated exchange over Sessions' recusal from the Russia investigation.
Wyden (D-Ore.) appeared to test Sessions' friendly composure during his testimony when he grilled him about alleged secret "matters" that compromised his involvement in the probe.
"What are they?" Wyden asked.
"Why don't you tell me?" Sessions told him. "There are none, Senator Wyden."
Sessions slammed the "secret innuendo being leaked out there about me, and I don't appreciate it."
Fired FBI Director James Comey last week before Congress first referred to the "problematic" matters, which he said were too sensitive to discuss in an open setting.
The nation's top law enforcement officer said he recused himself solely on the basis of a Justice Department ethics regulation.
Sessions also pushed back on Wyden's charge that he was "stonewalling" questions, saying that he is being honest.
