Former Secretary of State John Kerry ripped President Trump's decision to abandon the Paris climate deal yesterday, saying the lungs of American children will take the hit.
"He is not helping the forgotten American ... their kids will have worse asthma in the summer," Kerry said on MSNBC Thursday.
Kerry said the president lied to the American people and put America "last," not first, and made the country an "environmental pariah" to the world.
President Trump withdrew the United States from the Paris climate accord Thursday, calling it a bad deal and hurtful for the country's economy. The non-binding agreement signed by 195 countries in 2015 pledges the United States to cut its carbon emissions over 25 percent by 2025 and to contribute billions of dollars to developing countries to help them do the same. Many, like China, are under no obligation to cut emissions for decades.
Kerry did not spare the president on social media, posting on Facebook that the president is making "an ignorant, cynical appeal to an anti-science, special-interest faction far outside the mainstream" which will hurt, not help the economy.
My thoughts on today's big mistake by President Trump to put America last - and the big fight he's started. Lets go. https://t.co/YmgI8FBwhg

The failed Democratic presidential nominee joined many other liberal Democrats including Hillary Clinton, Leonardo DiCaprio and Michael Moore in exploding over the president's Thursday announcement.
Kerry slammed the move as hearkening natural disasters of apocalyptic proportions, stating the decision is "one of the most self-destructive moves I've ever seen by any president in my lifetime."
