The lawyer representing the professor accused of hitting a Trump supporter over the head with a bike lock spoke out on "Tucker Carlson Tonight."

Tucker Carlson said Professor Eric Clanton of Diablo Valley College is allegedly the masked man seen smashing a Trump supporter's head at a rally.

Attorney Dan Siegel said it may or may not be his client in the video.

He said "alt-rightists" commonly engage in racist and homophobic language and tend to provoke responses from the left.

Carlson said Siegel was excusing the violent action because viewers of the short video cannot tell the events before and after the assault.

"I'm not excusing anything but you're jumping to conclusions, Tucker," Siegel said.

"None of that has been proven... that he was present at the event... or did so without justification," he said.

Siegel slammed "alt-right people" for allegedly waving Nazi and Ku Klux Klan regalia at protests.

"No slogan, no flag is justification to hit someone in the face with a bike lock," Carlson said.
