The state department recently imposed sanctions on members of the Venezuelan judiciary for stifling Maduro opponents in the country's Congress.

Maduro called the United States a "xenophobic government" that hates Latin America.

After 50 days of anti-Maduro demonstrations, 46 people have been killed, Julie Banderas reported.

Protesters blame Maduro's government for the country's economic collapse and food shortages.

Maduro called the protesters "puppets" of a "nefarious" American government.
