Tucker Carlson clashed with Democratic strategist Joshua Galper tonight while debating former National Security Advisor Susan Rice's refusal to testify before a Senate subcommittee about Russian meddling in the U.S. presidential election.

Rice's attorney said she declined to testify because the senior Democrat on the subcommittee was not involved in the invitation.

President Trump criticized Rice on Twitter Thursday morning, saying her decision is "not good."

Tucker pointed out Democrats have been saying for months that we need to learn more about Russia's alleged interference in the election, yet Rice is refusing to open up about her admitted "central role" in the investigation.

Galper said that Rice would have likely faced questions about the so-called "unmasking" of Trump associates caught up in conversations with foreign targets of surveillance by the intelligence community.

He said that would be a "diversion" from the larger aim of the investigation, which is getting to the bottom of Russian activities during the election.

Tucker countered that the unmasking of Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, who resigned as Trump's national security advisor in February, is a felony, and it's important to find out what Rice knows about that criminal intelligence leak.

"It's always wrong when American citizens are spied upon without their knowledge by their government and then destroyed by the leak of the intel that results," Tucker said. "That is just wrong. I would think, as a Democrat and a civil libertarian, you would agree."
