In a raucous and animated speech in New Jersey last week, Democratic National Committee Chair Tom Perez questioned President Donald Trump's legitimacy and said that Republicans "don't give a s***" about people.

“Donald Trump, you don’t stand for our values. You didn’t win this election,” Perez said at the rally hosted by the New Jersey Working Families Alliance.

"We have a bully in Washington in the White House," he added.

On "Fox & Friends" this morning, Sarah Huckabee Sanders said this kind of rhetoric is a perfect example of why Democrats lost big in the 2016 election.

"I think Americans realized a long time ago that Washington elites like Tom Perez are completely out of touch and they want somebody that can focus on jobs, focus on bringing hope back to this country," Huckabee Sanders said. "And Donald Trump was the right messenger to do that. And that's why he won."

Huckabee Sanders, deputy assistant to Trump, said that Americans no longer look to the Democratic Party for leadership.

"They're looking to Donald Trump to do that. That's why he won in a historic upset. And that's why he's been so successful these first couple months in office."
