Pastor Dr. Robert Jeffress said on "Lou Dobbs Tonight" that President Donald Trump should continue to push ahead with his planned Mexican border wall.

The Catholic Archdiocese of Mexico City condemned companies planning to work on the wall as "immoral" and "traitors to their country."

Jeffress, of the First Baptist Church of Dallas, called such a claim an "absolutely idiotic pronouncement" for a church to make.

"Walls are God's idea to protect nations," he said.

Jeffress recalled how, in the Bible's Nehemiah 2:17, Nehemiah was told by God to build a wall to protect ancient Jerusalem.

He said until the Archdiocese or Pope Francis himself calls for the removal of the longstanding Vatican wall, or the unlocking of Vatican doors at night, they must remain silent about other countries' affairs in that regard.
