Spicer Says New England Patriots Will Visit White House April 19
Press Secretary Sean Spicer announced moments ago that the Super Bowl champion New England Patriots will visit the White House on April 19.
He noted that the date is the anniversary of the Massachusetts Revolutionary War battles of Lexington and Concord.
Several Patriots players announced last month that they would skip the visit in opposition to President Trump's policies.
The team's owner, Bob Kraft, is a close friend of President Trump. Before the Super Bowl, Kraft said Trump called him "once a week for a year" after his wife died of cancer in 2011.
Quarterback Tom Brady has also called Trump a friend. The Patriots won their fifth title, all with Brady and coach Bill Belichick, defeating the Atlanta Falcons 34-28 in Super Bowl LI.
