Wallace on Comey Testimony: 'A Bad Day for the Trump White House'
During a hearing before the House Intelligence Committee today, FBI Director James Comey confirmed publicly for the first time that the bureau is probing Russian meddling in the presidential race, including possible “links” to the Trump team.
“I have been authorized by the Department of Justice to confirm that the FBI, as part of our counterintelligence mission, is investigating the Russian government’s efforts to interfere in the 2016 presidential election,” Comey said. “That includes investigating the nature of any links between individuals associated with the Trump campaign and the Russian government, and whether there was any coordination between the campaign and Russia’s efforts.”
Comey was careful in his testimony not to confirm any details of what the bureau’s Russia investigation has uncovered or dismissed, saying he could not comment further since the probe is “open” and “ongoing.”

Bret Baier was joined by Chris Wallace, Mara Liasson, Steve Hayes and Lisa Boothe to react to the hearing.
Wallace said it was "pretty startling" to hear the FBI director confirm that the Trump campaign - including President Trump - is under FBI investigation.
He added that Comey also said that the FBI has "no information" to support Trump's claims that he was wiretapped by the Obama administration during the presidential campaign.
"It's been a bad day for the Trump White House," Wallace said.
Liasson agreed that it was a "blockbuster day."
"It's not every day that you hear that there's an ongoing counterintelligence operation into the president of the United States' campaign and whether they colluded with Russia," she said.
